Happy Easter!!

Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays. It signifies the beginning of Spring and a fresh outlook on the year ahead. So many things changed in my life over this past year: a new career, some new friends and a paradigm shift that makes me feel like Atlanta is my true home. I can't wait to see what wondering things 2013 has in store for me, my family and friends. Have a wonderful holiday and Happy Easter!
.....And I can't wait to show you all of the fun projects I have been working on around the house lately. Stay tuned!

Check out this fairy garden that my mom made me.
It is the cutest thing I have ever seen!

A sweet neighbor of mine sent this to me:

All I need to know I learned from the Easter Bunny!
Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.
There's no such thing as too much candy.
All work and no play can make you a basket case.
A cute tail attracts a lot of attention.
Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day.
Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits.
Some body parts should be floppy.
Keep your paws off of other people's jelly beans.
Good things come in small, sugar coated packages.
The grass is always greener in someone else's basket.
To show your true colors, you have to come out of the shell.
The best things in life are still sweet and gooey.
May the joy of the season fill your heart.
And may God bless you!
Happy Easter!

Smokey Mary: An Exercise in Stamina and Humor

Visiting New Orleans during Mardi Gras requires a great deal of energy, a good sense of humor and an appreciation for odd people. It is a place where you can let your freak flag fly a little higher and I never feel like I am quite cool enough to attend. With that said, this was my second year to ride on a Mardi Gras float with the Krewe of Orpheus, and likely my last for a while so I really tried to soak it all in.

The float we ride is called Smokey Mary. It is a huge, seven car train with blinking lights, loud music and the best of the best throws, (think stuffed animals, glowing frisbees, etc.) People go absolutely nuts when they see (and hear) Smokey Mary coming around the bend. I have such great memories of my experience riding this treasured float, and even better pictures. Enjoy!

Here are some of the other floats in the Orpheus parade:

A good celebrity sighting never hurts:

Allow me to introduce Smokey Mary!
