Things I Love: Beautiful morning drive pics

Every now & then, I have to get up really, really early for work to drive to a nearby city. The thing I love most about this peaceful time of day is watching the sun rise. If you are driving home for the holidays, I hope you get to see a few beautiful sunrises to help the time go by.

Also, if you are looking for a fun car game for your long drive, try Soap Box. Each person draws a question & then has 90 seconds to answer. It usually prompts some pretty interesting discussions. Enjoy!

Things I love: LePen

Have you heard of Le Pen? A lady at the Papyrus store introduced me to these recently & I LOVE them. They can also be found at Michael’s craft store or any paper goods store. The tip is very fine & the color is so saturated. The ink does not, I repeat, does not run! I have one in every color, although I use the deep green the most. They are kind of like a re-invented felt tip pen. I refuse to address a card with a regular pen now! Oh, and they are less than $2.00. It almost makes my handwriting look legible....almost :)

Things I Love: Tag Remover

GREAT STOCKING STUFFER!!!
This may be my absolute favorite little gadget of all time. I really dislike tags of any sort so I was thrilled to find that this worked perfectly to remove them. I sent my sister-in-law to the craft store to pick up a “tag remover” because my niece also hates tags. She looked allover & couldn’t find it. Apparently the technical name for this is a seam ripper. I honestly don’t hem too much so I think I should re-name this tool the tag-remover. Just ask an associate & they can help you find this little miracle of a tool!

Here’s what we’re doing: Start by loosening a bit of the string on the top of the tag. Then lift up the tag to loosen the ones underneath. Viola! No more itchy tag!

A Rustic Christmas Tree Look

This is my first year to really go all out with Christmas decorating. I wanted to plan different looks for each room that I was decorating & decided to place two small trees in my husband’s office & use rustic ornaments. I actually am using 2 gallon rosemary bushes that I got at my local nursery. It took twenty minutes, looks adorable & smells incredible!

Here’s what we’re doing:
Purchase two, 2-gallon rosemary bushes ($27 each) My local nursery has these cut in the shape of Christmas trees this time of year.
Purchase 7/8 yard of burlap (I had no idea that burlap came in so many different shades…I selected a light one).
Cut that piece exactly in half. If you are doing this inside, place a towel down before working with the burlap or it will get everywhere.
Place your tree in the center & use a rubber band to secure the burlap to the pot.
Reverse tuck the pieces that are sticking out & secure under the rubber band.

Things I love: Baby Oil

It may sound strange but I really love baby oil. It is great on my cuticles before bed or instead of body lotion. The place that I go to get a foot massage uses Vaseline, which is sort of in the baby oil family (right?), and feels amazing!!

Recently, I discovered a new use: glossing leaves. While preparing a few holiday arrangements using magnolia leaves from my yard, my mother in law asked me if I was going to baby oil the leaves. I had never heard of such a thing but gave it a shot & LOVE how it looks. It also helped to clean the leaves.

Here’s what we’re doing:
Clip magnolia leaves & trim off any brown edges or dead leaves. Rinse & dry them. Apply baby oil with a dry cloth. Arrange on a lovely tray with candles. It was so easy & looks so cute!
